Good start for Dojo
LAST Sunday saw round one of the National All Styles Martial Arts Championship.

LAST Sunday saw round one of the National All Styles Martial Arts Championship.
Members of the local Funakoshi Karate international tournament squad were once again represented at the tournament, held in Doncaster.
A total of 178 competitors from 26 different martial arts styles took to the floor for what was a full day of rigorous competition.
An impressive result from squad new comer Mark Cole to finish third advanced kata 5th Kyu to 1st Kyu, and 2nd advanced kumite (point sparring) 5th Kyu to 1st Kyu.
Terang Dojo’s Jill Cole entered a record number of eight events and placing in all eight:
1st 50 plus Kumite (point sparring), 2nd open black belt continuous sparring, 3rd open black belt kumite (point sparring), 3rd open black belt Kata, 2nd 40 plus mixed kata, 3rd 50 plus mixed kata, 2nd
40 plus kumite (point sparring) and 1st vet 40 plus continuous sparring.
Overall this was a great start to what is looking like a big year for tournament karate according to instructor Peter Conroy.
