NOORAT’S division three cricketers have earned themselves a place in this weekend’s South West Cricket grand final.
In a nail-biting end to last Saturday’s semi-final, Noorat held on to defeat Simpson by five runs.
Containing the Tigers to 130, Noorat went on to score 3/135 thanks to an unbeaten knock of 54 from opener Bernie Harris, who was well supported by Mark Clissold (24 not out), Simon Densley with 27 and Matthew Baxter on 12.
Best of the bowlers for Noorat were Tom Clissold 4/17 off 7.5 overs, Martin Wynd 2/11 off five and Mark Clissold 2/27 off eight.
“It was a great game and a terrific result for our club,” president Michael Williams said.
“Bernie Harris’ 50 was probably one of the highlights of the day in what was a great all-round effort by the team.”
Noorat will now take on Princetown in this Saturday’s grand final.
The game will start at 12.30pm with the venue believed to be Pomborneit Recreation Reserve.
