Grand final this weekend
LAST Saturday’s total fire ban resulted in the cancellation of the division four grand final match.
Camperdown Golf Magpies Bowling Club’s Saturday division four (3) team will now travel to Colac Lakes tomorrow (Saturday) to take on Winchelsea in the grand final.
The game is due to start at 1pm, depending on division two and three games being played beforehand finishing on time.
As mentioned last week, these teams have met three times this season with Golf winning all three.
Golf won round two by five shots, round nine by 29 shots and the second semi-final by five shots so will go into tomorrow’s final with a lot of confidence.
A reminder the bus will leave Bath Street at 11.45am tomorrow.
Teams for the grand final against Winchelsea at Colac Lakes are as follows:
Sam Clarke, Denis Place (bus), Pam Place and Peter James (s).
Elaine Waterfall, John O’Donohue, Mark Wallace and Rowena Dunstan (s).
Noelene Tolland, Liz Riches, Janet Molan (m) and Rene Wyles (s).
Emergency: Garry Brian.
Scribes’ prediction is that Golf can win on all three rinks and take the win by 11 shots, 70-59.
The men’s 100up has reached the finals stage with Michael Brebner to play Jack Paasse today (Friday) at 1pm.
The men’s President’s Handicap has also reached the finals stage after Paul Richards defeated John Molan and Greg Edwards defeated Isaac Winsall in last Sunday’s semi-finals.
This final will be played on a date to be decided.
The ladies’ Presidents handicap is down to the final with Ilma Daws to play Noelene Tolland.
The ladies’ B grade championship will be played between Kell Edwards and Marg Stephens.
Results of these matches will be in next week’s paper.
Entries for the mixed pairs championship close soon so please get your entry in if you have not already done so.
The club has a large contingent of bowlers heading to Bendigo on Sunday to play the Country Week pairs and fours starting on Monday.
Good luck to everyone involved.
Don’t forget to book your seat for the presentation night at the club house on Friday, April 12.
Bookings can be made to president Steve. Let’s make this a great night to finish off the season.
