Hampden appoints netball coaches

HAMPDEN Football Netball League has announced its Association Championship netball coaches for 2024.

The league will compete in the Western Zone Association Championship qualifiers in Ballarat on June 2, before moving onto the state titles on June 16.

The Open division team will be coached by South Warrnambool premiership coach Will Jamison.

Jamison has guided Hampden’s Open team for the past two seasons, resulting in semi-final placings.

New Koroit Open coach Danielle McInerney will lead the under 17 squad.

McInerney, who returns from Townsville this season, has been involved in four previous HFNL Association Championship campaigns during 2017 – 2020.

The under 15 squad will have joint coaches, with experienced mentors Leah Kermeen and Josie Ellerton at the helm.

The duo has a combined 500 games of Hampden League experience and were the under 15 and under 15 reserves coaches at South Warrnambool in 2023.

Koroit legend Kate Dobson has been appointed the under 13 coach and will be assisted by Lianna Harrison.

Dobson has been involved with senior and junior coaching for the past 20 years at multiple levels and this season is the under 13 Saints coach.

Harrison, a newcomer to the league, has had previous coaching experience in south-east Melbourne and north central Victoria.

Hampden head of netball Dot Jenkins said the league was absolutely thrilled with the appointments.

“Our coaches are extremely good communicators who focus on the strengths of the players and the teams they coach,” she said.

“The league’s first aim is to expose the girls to the next level of netball.

“Players coming together to represent the league allows the development of friendships, camaraderie and respect for each other and opposing teams.”
