THE 2023 pennant closes out an interesting season, with all the indoor bowls grand final action from Timboon Sports Stadium last Wednesday.
The division one semi-finals rematch saw Scotts Creek 1 take on Timboon Lawn 2.
The two sides were five-all on end six but by just over half way Timboon Lawn trailed by three.
Their hard work paid off in the second half and both sides were level, with a one-end shootout to play.
Four bowls from the skippers determined the result – which was a win to Scotts Creek 1, 17-16.
Congratulations to the division one premiers - Allen Armistead (s), Peter Baker, Jan Hutchison and Neville Robb and well done to runners-up Noah Mungean (s), Ash Quick, Jason Mungean and Lara Mungean.
The division two semi-final was between Mepunga 2 and Mepunga 1.
The game saw the scoreline sway from one side to the other, with both teams fighting hard for the win.
The scores were level just past the halfway mark before Mepunga 1 took the win, 20-17.
Congratulations to the premiers, Barb Draffen (s), Doug Byron, Les Lenehan and Yvonne Lenehan and well done to the runners-up George Draffen (s), Frank Harney, Helen Harney and Karl Keegan.
The division three grand final was between Glenormiston 3 and Timboon Lawn 5.
In a match that was hard fought, where singles were golden and two shots were a blessing, Glenormiston 3 defeated Timboon Lawn 5, 14-10.
Congratulations to the premiers Scott Pierce (s), Jenny Meade, Jim Wallace and Anne Gready and well done to the runners-up Rita Mungean (s), Jim Mungean Stewart Rundle and Mitchell Gristede.
The HIBBA Drawn Pairs Championship will be held at Timboon Lawn this Wednesday, August 9.
Last Sunday in the VIBBA (state) Champion of Champions, Pam Wines and David Childs battled it out against other association Champion of Champions at Sunshine.
In the first round Pam had a bye while David lost to Northern Districts’ Craig Fleming.
In the second round, Pam fell two shots shorts of victory over Maureen Drennan (Warrnambool) who went on to win her second state title against Anne Draffen.
Last weekend, Indoor Bowls Warrnambool held its Open Fours tournament.
Honorable mentions to Lara Mungean (Saturday runner-up), Harmony and Justin Rasmussen (Sunday 6th place) and Scott Pierce (Sunday runner-up).
A great tournament with challenging opponents and great social atmosphere.
The Heytesbury triples tournament will be played on Wednesday, August 16 from 7.30pm at Simpson.
