High rainfall across June

TANKS and dams across the district received a solid top-up last month.

TANKS and dams across the district received a solid top-up last month.

Heavy rainfall earlier in the month accounted for a third of the month’s tally in June across Camperdown and surrounds.

Camperdown recorded well above average rainfall with a total of 116mm of rain hitting the ground for the month, above the long-term average of 75.4mm.

The highest daily rainfall was recorded on June 7, with 26mm falling, according to the Bureau of Meteorology records.

So far this year 322.2mm of rain has fallen over Camperdown, which is well down on the 399.3mm for the same time frame last year.

In Derrinallum the rainfall was lower; with 79.2mm of rain hitting the ground.

However, it was still well above the long-term average of 56.5mm.

The highest daily rainfall was 14.2mm which fell on June 1.

At the end of the month a total of 316.8 has fallen over Derrinallum for the year.

Lismore was drier again than Derrinallum and Camperdown, with 65.4mm of rain falling.

It was still above the long-term average of 53.8mm.

The highest daily rainfall was experienced on June 1, with 11.8mm of rain falling.

For the first five months of the year, 284.1mm of rain has hit the ground in Lismore.
