High rains continue

TERANG and Mortlake experienced rainfall above the long-term average during April, as the total for the year remains high.

A total of 91.2mm of rain hit the ground in Terang during April, surpassing the long-term expected average of 63.2mm.

The highest daily rainfall occurred on April 7, with 29mm of rainfall recorded.

The monthly total surpassed the rainfall experienced in April last year, when 32.4mm hit the ground.

During the first four months of the year, Terang experienced 214.6mm of rainfall. The figure surpasses the 188.3mm expected rainfall over the same period.

The rainfall to-date also surpasses the 181.4mm experienced over the same period last year, which went on to be the highest yearly rainfall experienced since 2012.

Meanwhile in Mortlake, the monthly rainfall total for April also rose above the long-term expected average.

The town experienced 70mm of rain, well above the long-term expected monthly average of 44.1mm.

The highest daily rainfall occurred on April 7, when 17.2mm of rain fell over the 24-hour period.

The monthly figure stands above the total experienced in 2022 when just 24mm fell for the month.

Mortlake has experienced 182mm of rainfall through the first four months of the year, well above the long-term expected average of 144.7mm over the same period.
