Hockey season underway

CORANGAMITE Hockey Club players have enjoyed their first round of the 2024 season.

The under 16 competition last Friday night saw the Corangamite side put in a strong performance against Mariners despite going down 4-1.

The first ‘you rock’ award was presented to Quinn Clark.

On Saturday morning the under 14s opened their new season.

Playing the full field was a new experience for many yet they did a great job.

Corangamite’s players of the match were Mali and Akeisha.

The 11-a-side Corangamite women’s team also began its new season with a tough match against Mariners on the new surface in Warrnambool.

With a mix of new players, new members and some keen juniors the team had a great first round and even scored a goal.

The modified competition started on Saturday at Mockridge Park, with super keen returning and new players – along with the first of the Hooked into Hockey sessions for the year.

Congratulations to all players for their round one efforts.

Last Saturday the club was also joined by members from the Rotary Club of Camperdown who generously donated $1000 to the club as a token of thanks to club members for selling showbags.

This donation was greatly appreciated.
