FIRE fully engulfed a Glenormiston home over the weekend.

According to a Country Fire Authority (CFA) spokesperson, CFA was notified of the blaze at around 1pm on Sunday, July 24 to reports of a house fire at Kennas Lane, Glenormiston South.

“On arrival, crews found a single storey weatherboard dwelling fully involved, with no occupants home at the time of the fire,” the spokesperson said.

“The scene was declared under control at 2:56pm.”

Noorat CFA captain Michael Williams said the investigation had been completed.

While the cause of the blaze could not be determined, CFA investigators had determined the incident was not being treated as suspicious.

“We arrived on scene with the house unable to be saved, and began asset containment to protect the surrounding homes,” he said.

“It was a great response from the local brigades and other services.”

Brigades from across the district flocked to the incident, with a total of 13 appliances responding.

“Vehicles were on scene from Camperdown, Noorat, Terang, Mortlake, Smythesdale, Wooriwyrite, Kolora, Mortlake-Macleod brigades and District 6 HQ, with support from FRV,” the CFA spokesperson said.
