Housing estate could bring over 170 homes

UP to 170 new housing blocks could be on the way for Cobden

By wd-news

A planning permit application has been lodged with the Corangamite Shire Council for a staged multi-lot subdivision of land on the Cobden-Stonyford Road.

The proposal is seeking to create about 170 residential lots, a reserve for drainage purposes, a reserve for a pump station and a priority entry and exit to the subdivision along Cobden-Stonyford Road.

The site is located on the northern side of Cobden-Stonyford Road and the eastern side of Camperdown-Cobden Road, Cobden.

The overall size of the site area is approximately 25.75 hectares and is currently being developed for residential purposes.

According to the application the proposed, multi-lot subdivision creates a mixture of densities, ranging from 500 square metres to 3000 square metres.

“The application includes proposed staging of the development as addressed within the plan set,” the application reads.

“The proposed staging allows for a mixture of lot densities in each stage, allowing for adequate land supply to the community.

“The preliminary staging plan indicates development from west to east, with the final stage incorporating the ultimate drainage reserve in the north-eastern corner of the site.”

The applicant believes the proposal is consistent with the State and Local Planning Policy context in relation to residential subdivision within the Corangamite Planning Scheme.

“The proposed staged multi-lot subdivision provides for the addition of future dwellings to increase the population of the town and establish Cobden as an attractive and vibrant destination for the existing community, new residents and business investment,” the application reads.

Corangamite Shire Council will not decide on the application before Wednesday, July 31.

The application in full can be found on www.corangamite.vic.gov.au and search for ‘Current Planning Applications on Notice’.
