Iconic vehicles cruise through Mortlake
MORTLAKE was a motoring enthusiasts heaven over the weekend as the Federation of Veteran, Vintage and Classic Vehicle Clubs (FVVCVC) rolled in to town for its annual picnic.

MORTLAKE was a motoring enthusiasts heaven over the weekend as the Federation of Veteran, Vintage and Classic Vehicle Clubs (FVVCVC) rolled in to town for its annual picnic.
The popular event raises vital funds for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre each year while giving the community an opportunity to get up close to motoring history.
FVVCVC president John Kennett said car clubs across the region had “packed the ground” and the community were out in force at Tea Tree Lake on Sunday.
“We had a good roll up considering a couple of clubs in the south west were unfortunately unable to attend,” he said.
“We had members coming from as far as Horsham, Portland, Geelong and Stawell so we’re proud to have attracted members from across the south west.”
Mr Kennett said he was pleased to have once again seen the Mortlake community out in force to support the event.
“We were wonderfully supported by the Mortlake community,” he said.
“We had a lot of locals come down, enjoy the afternoon and it was great to see.
“It’s a community event, even though it’s our picnic, because we thoroughly enjoy interacting with the community.”
Mr Kennett thanked community groups for lending their support to catering, as well as Moyne Shire mayor Karen Foster and Cr Ian Smith for their attendance.
“Cr Foster very graciously helped with the presentation, and everybody had a great day,” he said.
“We were musically served by the Lakes and Craters Band, who did a wonderful job.
“We were very well catered for by the Country Women’s Association day group, Coffee with the Girls and the Mortlake Lions Club.
“We are incredibly grateful for their support.”
