Jancourt East man arrested after fatal accident Thursday

A NINETEEN-year old Jancourt East man was charged following a fatal accident at Naringal East last week.

A Police media spokesperson said it was alleged a Holden Rodeo and a Proton Jumbuck ute were travelling on Cobden-Warrnambool Road in opposite directions when they collided about 3.30pm on Thursday, April 18.

“The driver and sole occupant of the Proton, a 62-year-old Warrnambool man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening-injuries but later died,” the spokesperson said.

“The driver of the Holden, a 19-year-old Jancourt East man, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, careless driving and overtake when unsafe.

“He has been bailed to appear before the Warrnambool Magistrates’ Court on April 24.”

The fatal incident occurred at a notorious section of the Cobden-Warrnambool Road – between Rollos Road and Bartons Road – which has seen up to five collisions over the span of a week.
