‘Just a farmer’ set to screen this weekend

DAIRY Farmers Victoria, with the support of the Gardiner Foundation, is inviting the community to a special screening of the film ‘Just A Farmer'’ this week.

The film is set to screen at the Theatre Royal at 2 Bath Street, Camperdown on Friday, with doors opening from 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

Following the screening, attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage in a Q and A session with the film’s director Simon Lyndon and writer-producer Leila McDougall, who will share insights into the film's creation and its impact.

Dairy Farmers Victoria president Mark Billing said ‘Just a Farmer’ was chose as it ties in with Dairy Farmers Victoria’s goals of providing resources, advocacy and community engagement for those involved in the dairy farming industry.

“Dairy Farmers Victoria are a newly established voluntary organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting the dairy industry within Victoria,” he said.

“’Just A Farmer’ is a poignant and powerful documentary that explores the heart of modern farming through the eyes of those who live and breathe it.

“The film delves into the daily challenges, triumphs, and the enduring passion that drives farmers, capturing their stories with authenticity and empathy.”

Mr Billing said the free admission event aims to “support and celebrate the vital role of farmers”.

“By providing a platform for shared experiences and networking, we hope to foster a stronger sense of solidarity among local farmers and those interested in the agricultural industry,” he said.

“Attendees will have the chance to connect with fellow community members, exchange ideas, and strengthen their network, all while enjoying a meaningful cinematic experience.

We encourage everyone—whether you are a farmer, a film enthusiast, or simply interested in the world of agriculture—to join us for an evening that highlights the dedication of our farmers and the power of community.”

Complimentary food and beverages will be supplied on the night.
