FRANK McKenzie has been awarded his seventh Dan black belt.

An integral part of Funakoshi Karate Australia (international), McKenzie celebrated his award with a group of senior karate members last weekend.

His achievements over the years are long and impressive since beginning training in Funakoshi karate in 1987 while in South Africa.

McKenzie opened his first Funakoshi International Australia (FKIA) school in Australia in 1996 and has since taken the FKIA members on five international karate tours.

He now runs the largest active membership of any Funakoshi dojo in the world and is well qualified as a personal trainer, gym instructor, boxing teacher, outdoor group fitness leader and boot camp instructor.

McKenzie has been affiliated with the Australian Karate Federation since 2003, is the FKIA chief instructor and is an Oceania (World Karate Federation) kata and kumite judge.
