Karate success
AFTER two years of lockdowns, last Sunday’s karate tournament at the Warrnambool stadium was a welcome return for local athletes.

AFTER two years of lockdowns, last Sunday’s karate tournament at the Warrnambool stadium was a welcome return for local athletes.
The 25th annual Funakoshi Karate International Australia tournament attracted competitors from Melbourne and South Australia.
Held in partnership with Karate Victoria and the Australian Karate Federation, the event attracted the support of 24 judges and officials.
Results from the Camperdown and Terang Dojos were as follows:
Jill Cole – 1st veterans’ female black belt kata, 2nd open female black belt kata.
Chelsea Wright – 3rd female black belt 14yr-15yr kata.
Josh Wilkins – 1st male 10th Kuy, 7th Kyu points sparring, 1st male veterans’ 10th Kyu, 7th Kyu kata, 2nd male veteeran’s points sparring.
Mark Cole – 3rd male 10th Kyu-7Kyu points sparring, 2nd male 10th Kuy-7th Kyu kata.
Sophie Quarrell-Cole – 2nd female 10th kuy-7th kyu 6yr-7yr points sparring, 3rd female 10th kuy-7th kyu kata.
Trent Waixel – 2nd male 10th kyu – 7th kyu kata, 2nd male 10th kuy-7th kyu points sparring.
Rebecca Biddle – 1st all abilities kata.
Rowan Stephens – equal 3rd all abilities kata.
David Howe – equal 3rd all abilities kata.
