THE first round of the Victorian Country Series was hotly contested in Cobden last weekend.

Over 150 karts were entered and raced across 11 classes, with the youngest being Cadet 9s and the oldest Victorian Combined Masters.

Local drivers Max Lumsden finished second in the TAG restricted medium category while Max Fahey finished fourth in the tag 125 light.

Last weekend’s event proved a great spectacle in all classes, with the first three place-getters in each awarded trophies.

The South West Kart Club was excited to welcome karters from across the state and interstate, and were pleased to showcase their new tech shed, funded through a community motorsports grant.

With six rounds in the 2023 Victorian Country Series, the next will be staged in Hamilton.

Drivers who compete in each of the six rounds also vie for the prestigious overall winner’s trophy.
