The annual event will be held on Wednesday, April 16 from 10am to 2pm at the Cobden Civic Hall, 53-55 Victoria Street.

Kidding Around organising committee member Kathryn Stubbings said this year’s event was shaping up to be the biggest and best yet.

“Kidding Around is an event run by volunteers in Cobden during the school holidays,” she said.

“It is a four-hour event which is just $8 entry for kids, with parents getting free entry.

“It’s a day full of activities including face painting, balloon twisting, crafts and art, and cupcake decorating.

“We’ll also have a scavenger hunt and the Country Fire Authority will be bringing along their fire truck for the kids to see.

“There will be games, puzzles, colouring, activities and we’ll also have visits from the angling club and Heytesbury and District Landcare Network.”

Mrs Stubbings said the idea behind Kidding Around was to bring the wider community together over the school holidays, helping kids and their parents alike to make new connections.

“We want as many kids to come as possible,” she said.

“It’s not only a great day for the kids, but for families to spend time together, and make new connections along the way.

“We envision the day as an opportunity for everyone to get involved and join in the fun.

“We want to engage the community, and help people make connections.”

Mrs Stubbings said the committee was always on the lookout for any volunteers who could lend a few hours to ensure the day is a success, with anyone interested invited to contact her on 0412 332 723.

Helen Smith at Cobden Sewing Machines can also be contacted on 0408 104 912.

“This is the third year for Kidding Around,” Mrs Stubbings said.

“It’s growing every year – it’s been well attended previously and all signs are pointing to it being well attended this year

“Our goal is for the event to be both as economical, and provide as much fun, as possible.”
