Kinder receives facelift
RENOVATIONS are now completed at the Camperdown Kindergarten, with an open day held on Tuesday, to celebrate the works.

RENOVATIONS are now completed at the Camperdown Kindergarten, with an open day held on Tuesday, to celebrate the works.
The renovations included a sheltered outdoor area, a larger storeroom, a new all-abilities toilet, and improved bathroom facilities for the children to use.
The renovations occurred during the summer holidays, beginning November before being completed at the end of January.
Director Bronwyn O’Keeffe said the renovations have improved safety and reflect the kindergarten’s commitment to safety.
“In terms of the toilets, it allows for any child to access the same quality of a facility, which also reinforces our commitment to inclusion,” she said.
“It also gives a lot more flexibility because there’s the new enclosed area that allows for all-weather play and physical activity, allowing for a more flexible program.
“Because it’s been a management committee initiative, it’s very much for the community; it’s improved facilities for the community.
“The office project allows for visiting professionals and services, such as speech therapy; the office used to be tiny, and they had to go to the other side There’s no anxiety of going to the other room for the children, and with the big window, staff can still see.”
Ms O’Keeffe said the renovations were part of an ongoing plan by the management committee and parent body to improve facilities, with the recent works being one of the larger projects.
She also extended her thanks to members of last year’s management committee, including previous president Alistair Tune.
“He found all the relocations and went through all the permits,” O’Keeffe said.
“I’d also like to thank the 2022 kinder management committee, and perhaps the 21 and 22 as they both put in for the grants and did all that work.”
Three-year-old educator Tanya Lewin said the renovations were a “lovely improvement”, and the kindergarten was proud of what was achieved.
“I’d like to thank the management committee of the kindergarten for their hard work, and to Leah Cheeseman, who was our previous business manager,” she said.
“She did a lot of the behind-the-scenes work to get the grant.
“I’d also like to thank the staff at the kindergarten, and the parents and families.
“Thank you to the Camperdown Football Netball club; they were great in letting us stay up there when we had to relocate for four weeks.
“Thanks also to Robert’s Builders, who stepped up and took over the build for us.”
