Knights head to semi-finals
HAVING finished on top of South West Cricket's division one ladder, Cobden has earnt itself a spot in this Sunday's semi-final.
Both the Knights and the Pomborneit Bulls will await the winners of Saturday’s two elimination finals to see who they will each face the following day.
The Knights had a successful home and away season, which culminated in a big final round win over Ecklin at home last Saturday.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, the Knights were off to a relatively slow start, with openers Matthew Boyle out for six runs and Jonty Robertson added seven.
Edmund Walsh played a pivotal role at the crease, making a quick-fired 84 from 110 deliveries in a spell that included seven boundaries.
Team-mate Johno Benallack was also on fire, adding 74 from 95 deliveries (including eight fours) while Kaplan McCann was unbeaten
on 26.
The Knights batted out their 50 overs with a creditable 9/254.
Best of the bowlers for Ecklin were Oscar Sanderson 3/18 off five and Liam Loveday 3/37 off eight.
In reply, the Dragons were restricted to 10/148 from 45 overs with Tyler Vickers unbeaten on 43, Henry Carroll contributed 39 and Brendan Cook (19) the best of the batters.
The Knights were well served with the ball by Matthew Boyle 3/31 off six overs, Angus Uwland 3/26 from 10 and Parker Walsh 2/11 from seven.
Cobden’s division two and three sides have also had great seasons, with both to play in their respective semi-finals this Saturday.
Cobden will face Bookaar in division two and division three will face Heytesbury Princetown.
This Saturday’s division one elimination round will see Heytesbury Princetown take on Woorndoo, while Bookaar will face Camperdown.
