Knights hold fourth

A BIG win over Ecklin last weekend has landed Cobden Knights in fourth spot on the South West Cricket division one ladder.

Half-way through the season the Knights are showing strong form with four wins on the board to date.

The latest victory came last Saturday when the Knights faced Ecklin for round seven action.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Knights put on a strong show at the crease reaching 7/263 at the end of 50 overs.

Middle order batsman Johno Benallack had a great day out, smashing 109 runs before being caught.

His century included eight boundaries and five sixes.

Matthew Kemp also performed well for the side, reaching 58 in an innings that also included six boundaries.

Parker Walsh was unbeaten on 31.

Best of the bowlers for Ecklin was Kevin Wines who finished the day with figures of 2/56 off nine overs.

In return the home side was contained to 10/94 in the 32nd over with lower order batsman Brendan Cook (26) and Tyler Vickers (22) the best for Ecklin.

Edmund Walsh, Parker Walsh, Jackson Rock and Angus Uwland each took two wickets for the Knights, with Parker Walsh having a great day with the ball – taking 2/3 off six overs which included four maidens.

In other round seven matches, ladder leaders Heytesbury Princetown had a big win over Boorcan and Bookaar were victors over Woorndoo.
