Ladder remains tight for Power

A 39-point loss to Nirranda last weekend sees Kolora Noorat now sitting fourth on the Warrnambool and District ladder.
After eight rounds the Power now sits a game behind Nirranda, with just percentage separating them from fifth-placed Russells Creek and Allansford in sixth.
Last Saturday’s match saw the Power struggle to convert on the board, finishing on 5.10.40 while Nirranda booted 11.13.79.
Best for the Power were Joel Dillon, Fred Beasley, Joel Moloney, Darcy Vick, Justin Wallace and Ed Lee.
Vick kicked two for the side, while Declan Barbary, Caleb Kavanagh and Ryan O’Connor each contributed a goal.
The Power will be looking to pick up a win over Allansford at home this weekend to hold its position in the top five.
In the reserves last Saturday, Kolora Noorat also struggled against Nirranda in what was a fifth versus sixth match.
The visitors were contained to just one point in the first quarter and kept scoreless in the last, finishing on 3.4.22 while the home side reached 9.5.59.
Nicholas Castersen contributed two goals for the Power while Jehrin Bateman added one.
Best for the team were Paul McSween, Jack Carlin, Nicholas Castersen, Sean Battistello, George Beasley and Joshua Freeman.
Earlier in the day the under 18s showed their dominance on the ground with a 44-point win over Nirranda, 12.12.84 to 6.4.40.
Jack Pekin kicked three, Levi Cootesmith added two and Tyler Barrett, Bohdie Gill, Max Kavanagh, Alexander Kenna, William Kenna, Hamish Molan and Ethan Wyss each contributed a goal.
Best for the Power in a great team effort were Ted Kenna, Ben Carlin, Max Kavanagh, Bohdie Gill, Tyler Barrett and Jack Pekin.
Kolora Noorat’s senior netballers also had a tough round, losing all three games played, while the Power’s junior sides all enjoyed wins.
Results were as follows:
A grade – Nirranda defeated Kolora Noorat 78-44.
A reserve – Nirranda defeated Kolora Noorat 47-22.
B grade – Nirranda defeated Kolora Noorat 42-22.
17 and under – Kolora Noorat defeated Nirranda 24-22.
15 and under – Kolora Noorat defeated Nirranda 32-15.
13 and under – Kolora Noorat defeated Nirranda 25-7.
