WOMEN from Country Women’s Association (CWA) branches across the south west showcased their creative flair at the CWA South Western Group Creative Arts Exhibition last weekend.
WOMEN from Country Women’s Association (CWA) branches across the south west showcased their creative flair at the CWA South Western Group Creative Arts Exhibition last weekend.
Members from branches including Terang, Mortlake, Cobden, Panmure, Allansford and Warrnambool entered a diverse range of creations for exhibition at the Allansford hall.
Exhibitions included cooking, crafts, patchwork, embroidery, knitting, crochet, photography, floral art and more.
Among those making their mark on the competition was Cobden’s Dawn Robinson and Barbra Porter for a range of fruit cakes, puddings and deserts.
Terang’s Nancy Fowler stacked multiple wins for her crafting prowess, while Beth McDonald swept a range of exhibition wins as a first time exhibitor.
Mortlake’s Catherine Doulis won a number of prizes, including for a mouth-watering iced chocolate cake.
CWA South Western Group president Bev Byron said the diverse range of exhibition items from CWA members was the star ofthe show.
“The girls put in some great work, and we had lots of good feedback comments about what a great display it was,” she said.
“You need it all to make a good show, and that covers everyone then because you don’t have to be good at everything.
“In the CWA we have women who love gardening, women who love cooking, women who do craft, women who like taking photos.
“The Creative Arts Exhibition is at its best when it covers everyone and is diverse.”
The Allansford Branch won the aggregate trophy for branches under 20 members, Panmure won the aggregate trophy for branches over 20 members and the overall winning branch was Allansford.
“Thank you to all the members who contributed to the exhibition,” Ms Byron said.
“We can’t do this with one or two members, so thank you to the members and branches.”
CWA branches are always on the lookout to welcome new members.
