Daisy Courtney, Maddison Fisher and Ella Riches made their senior debuts for Camperdown’s division three side last Saturday.

The Lakers first opened with the bat on home soil last Saturday, with Jye Mclaughlin and Harry Sumner forming a solid duo before Sumner was the first wicket to fall at 36 runs.

The wicket brought captain James O’Neil to the crease, before two quick wickets left the home side sitting at a precarious 4/68.

But the fall of the wicket would bring Shivam Gupta to the crease, who would go on to top score with a thumping performance of 68 runs off 50 deliveries, including eight boundaries and a pair of sixes.

When Gupta’s wicket fell with Camperdown sitting on 5/165, a steady flow of wickets brought a close to the day with O’Neil remaining not out on 52 from 99 deliveries, with five boundaries.

Camperdown finished its innings sitting on a daunting run chase of 10/214.

For Ecklin, Stuart Timms was best with the ball – recording an impressive four wicket haul from 8.4 runs with just 18 runs surrendered.

The run chase could not have got off to a worse start, with Ram Jangir bowling opener Henry Carroll for a duck, to claim the first wicket before Ecklin could even record its first run.

Ecklin rallied to find themselves sitting 4/60, not too dissimilar to the position Camperdown batters found themselves before Gupta came to the crease for his top score performance.

It was Gupta himself, this time with the ball in hand, who would quell those chances – bowling Harry Carter on the first ball.

Ecklin’s remaining batters were only able to add a further 21 runs to the board, finishing 10/91 after 21.3 overs.

Best for Camperdown with the ball were Shivam Gupta and Noah Richies, both taking three wickets while O’Neil taking two.

Division three also had a good win chasing Cobden’s 95.

The game was a big occasion for Daisy Courtney, Maddison Fisher and Ella Riches – who were all making their senior debuts.

Courtney and Fisher made their presence felt, with each taking a wicket while Ross Mcllveen added a triple in just eight overs, giving up 18 runs, and Tom Cheslett and Enzo Nolan both added a pair.

Camperdown made light work of chasing down the Knights total, with the duo of Tom Cheslett (24 runs off 49 balls) and Richard McKenzie (28 runs off 62 balls) leading the scoring to record a 3/96 victory.

Camperdown’s under 13s also had a win, making 6/57 to Boorcan’s 7/51.

Cricket club still on the lookout for players in all grades and anyone interested can contact the club via Facebook or contact senior coach Steven Fisher on 0439 329 216.
