CAMPERDOWN’S division one cricketers went down to neighbours Cobden last weekend.

Despite posting a creditable 9/210 off 50 overs, the Lakers fell short of Cobden’s 4/245.

Middle order batsman Jye McLaughlin had a great day at the crease, posting 58 from 57 balls for the Lakers.

His innings included six boundaries and two sixes.

McLaughlin was well supported on the scoreboard by team-mates Steven Fisher with 37 and James O’Neil 34.

John Reed (22) and captain Harry Sumner (15) also reached double figures.

The Knights, who earlier won the toss and elected to bat, were well served by Campbell Walsh who was unbeaten on 57 and opener Jonty Robertson who was caught and bowled by the Lakers’ John Reed on 73.

Best of the bowlers for the Lakers were Nicholas Frith with 1/40 and Reed with 1/48.

The Lakers now sit fifth on the South West division one ladder with three wins on the board.

They will host ladder leaders Heytesbury Prince-town tomorrow (Saturday) at Wright Oval.
