Landslip works continue
CONTRACTORS have entered the final stages of landslip works near Cobden.

CONTRACTORS have entered the final stages of landslip works near Cobden.
Department of Transport regional director (Barwon South West) Michael Tudball said the works were progressing.
“We’re making Cobden-Port Campbell Road safer by completing a major road rehabilitation and landslip prevention works,” he said.
“We’re into the final stages of rebuilding more than 2.6 kilometres of Cobden-Port Campbell Road with crews recently completing a bulk of the sealing work."
“On the nearby slope stabilisation, we’re laying 475m² of stainless-steel mesh that is being held by soil anchors.”
About 2.6km of the road is being rebuilt for a safer and smoother road surface.
With sealing nearly complete, crews will soon move to line marking, barrier installation, improving signage and drainage works.
Nearby to the road rebuild, contractors have been completing landslide soil nail prevention work and constructing a 125 metres long retaining wall.
More than 2500m² of stainless-steel mesh will be held in place by 300 metres of stainless steel rope, and pinned by 230 soil anchors into the limestone rock.
All major work was expected to be completed by the end of May, weather permitting.
Contractors will also be planting 6850 grasses and shrubs at the landslip stabilisation site later this year.
