Leaders in community sport honoured
TIMBOON Football Netball Club’s Amy Rosolin, and the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club, were two of more than a dozen recipients at this year’s South West Community Sports Awards.
During a night of celebrations in Warrnambool last weekend, the team at South West Sport were proud to announce this year’s award winners, celebrating the people, clubs and organisations that bring community sport to life in the south west.
Among the awards, this year’s ‘Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion in Sport’ award was won by the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving “Club for its Beach Access Day.
Held on December 3 (International Day of People with a Disability), Port Campbell’s Beach Access Day was a free initiative that the club launched to provide people with disabilities the chance to experience a day at the beach.
The day promoted social inclusion and was aimed at increasing community awareness about disability and improved accessibility to the beach.
Timboon Football Netball Club member Amy Rosolin was named Community Sport Volunteer of the Year for Corangamite Shire.
As a long-standing volunteer of the Timboon Demons, she has held several positions within the club including committee member, netball secretary, league delegate, umpire coordinator and coach.
Last year she also played a key role in the creation of the Timboon Indoor Netball Association.
Amy’s work has contributed to the increased opportunities for female and junior netballers to develop their skills and reach their potential.
