Life membership for Joyce Roberts

HEYTESBURY Indoor Bias Bowls Association (HIBBA) treasurer Joyce Roberts has been recognised for her outstanding contribution with a life membership.

Ms Roberts was presented with the award during the association’s presentation night at the Cobden Golf Club.

The evening also marked the 60th anniversary of HIBBA.

Awards presented during the evening included the following:

Ladies Champion of Champions - Pam Dwyer (Timboon Lawn); runner-up Deb Cheslett (Glenormiston).

Men’s Champion of Champions - Lyndon Rogerson (Simpson); runner-up Gary Body (Camperdown).

Drawn Pairs Champions - Pam Wines and Ken Buck (Laang-Ecklin); runners-up Max Heard and Deb Cheslett (Glenormiston).

Drawn Fours Champions - Max Heard (s), Deb Noonan, Cheryl Ham and Dawn Hadfield (Glenormiston); runners-up - Noah Mungean (s), Murray Lucas, Sjan Berry and Val Blake (Timboon Lawn).

HIBBA division three premiers - Karl Keegan (s), Clarrie Matthews, Gayle McPherson and Yvonne Lenehan (Mepunga 3); runners-up - Gerard Noonan (s), Les Pearson, Margaret Ovens and Graeme Chamberlain (Camperdown 3).

HIBBA division two premiers - Fred Salmon (s), Glenn Cain, David Childs and Joyce Roberts (Cobden 1); runners-up - Rob McRabb (s), Frank Harney, Helen Harney and Vince Lenehan (Mepunga 2).

HIBBA division one premiers - Noah Mungean (s), Brett Mungean, Tyler Mungean and Lara Mungean (Timboon Lawn 2); runners-up - Jason Mungean (s), Pam Dwyer, Rita Mungean and Jean Clover (Timboon Lawn 1).

Other honourable mentions:

VIBBA 2024 Men’s Pairs Champions - Scott Pierce (s) and Justin Rasmussen.

AIBBC 2024 Mixed Fours bronze medal - Allen Armistead (s), Adrian Ballinger, Elaine Pitts and Trish Speechley;

AIBBC 2024 Ladies Fours Gold Medal and national champions - Barb Draffen (s), Bev Huchins, Cindy Brodie and Debbie Keane.

AIBBC 2024 Ladies Triples silver medal - Jo Webster (s), Joanne Blake and Lara Mungean.

AIBBC 2024 Junior Girls silver medal - Harmony Rasmussen.

AIBBC 2024 Men’s Singles gold medal and national champion - Arthur Finch.

It has been an exciting year for HIBBA and one for the record books.

The annual general meeting will be held at Scotts Creek Hall on Tuesday, October 29 at 8pm. Please note the change of date.

Next year will be another big one, with the nationals coming to Warrnambool.
