A LEAGUE life membership and a ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award has capped off a memorable season for Woorndoo Mortlake’s Jill Wade.

Jill was presented with life membership of the Mininera and District Netball Association last Wednesday night and earlier this week was presented with the ‘volunteer’ award at the Mininera and District Football League presentation evening.

“I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to receive these awards,” Jill said.

“We certainly don’t volunteer for accolades; it takes many volunteers to run footy and netball each week.”

While Woorndoo Mortlake’s club records don’t date back to Jill’s earlier playing days, she has played well in excess of 100 senior games for the club, is a regular umpire (both on game day and at trainings), a past netball president and club secretary, C grade premiership captain and player and a long-time league bylaws officer.

Jill also played a pivotal role in the construction of new netball changerooms at Woorndoo and is currently working with the club’s committee to obtain funding for court upgrades.
