TIMBOON’S Lily Stevens saw an opportunity to make a difference and spread a bit of joy to flood impacted Lismore residents.

An avid reader, Ms Stevens starting collecting books to donate to the Lismore Library in New South Wales, which had been ravaged by recent flooding.

“I saw on Facebook the public library was happy to take donations of books and funds,”she said.

“At first I was just going to donate from my personal collection.”

Upon word spreading of the donation, Timboon Opportunity Shop (TOPS) was only too happy to get involved, according to Ms Stevens.

“TOPS was very happy to get behind the appeal and donate a heap of books and $1000,” she said.

“I’ve collected between 100 and 200 books from not only TOPS, but people from Timboon and Port Campbell as well.

“I didn’t think I would get so many. It’s just been amazing.

“I’m glad I could help out.”

TOPS co-ordinator Brenda Parfett congratulated Ms Stevens on her efforts.

“I just want to complement her, she saw a need and went for it,” she said.

“Lily’s grandmother is a volunteer here as well.”

Mrs Parfett said TOPS volunteers were pleased to be able to contribute to the fundraiser.
