Local passion for shows recognised
NOORAT Show secretary Vicki Marr and 2018 junior show ambassador Tiffany McLauchlan took centre stage at the Victorian Agricultural Shows (VAS) state convention in Camperdown recently.

Held late last month, the VAS committee presented Mrs Marr with a Meritorious Service award for 26 years of service.
Mrs Marr said she was “pleased and humbled” to receive the award for one of her life’s major passions.
“To be able to do something that you really enjoy is fantastic,” she said.
“To see the culmination of months of hard work come together in that one special day of the year that is the Noorat Show and see the enjoyment on the faces of our show patrons makes it so worthwhile.”
Mrs Marr’s introduction to agricultural shows came when she worked in the office of the Bendigo Show Society for seven years.
With her husband Gary, she then moved to the Bellarine Peninsula to work with the Royal Geelong Show committee for a further six years.
In 2007, she became the secretary of the Noorat and District Agricultural and Pastoral Society.
Mrs Marr has also taken on the role as the president of the VAS South Western Group and was a driving force to host the event in the south west.
Ms McLauchlan was the runner-up in the junior ambassador final, with Ballarat Show ambassador Rebecca Sinclair securing first place.
Mrs Marr said Ms McLauchlan had done “extremely well” in the competition, especially seeing as it was her second time participating.
