Local shop picks up award
THERE was plenty to smile about for Port Campbell Shopping staff have taken out a state award.
Earlier this month the store – which is part of the Friendly Grocers umbrella – was announced as Friendly Grocers Retailer of the Year for Victoria.
Port Campbell Shopping’s Peter Field and Prue Cashmore celebrated the win at the awards ceremony.
“I’m ecstatic,” Mr Field said.
“There’s been more Friendly Grocers coming on board in Victoria; the branch in Victoria is growing, which is great news.
“I think it’s a great achievement.”
Mr Field paid tribute to all staff at the store and thanked the “loyal supporters who shop” with them.
Ms Cashmore said the win came as a surprise.
“I’m a bit excited,” she said.
Friendly Grocer general manager Steve Baranowski congratulated the local store on its success.
“Over the past year, Friendly Grocer Port Campbell has been completely transformed through renovations with investments into new shelving across the grocery and liquor sections, along with the addition of a new frozen section,” he said.
“The update within the store has provided the Port Campbell community with a modern store and over 1000 new lines available to complete their shopping needs.
“Peter, Prue and the team pride themselves on providing outstanding customer service and standards within their store and we couldn’t be prouder to announce them as the winners of Friendly Grocer Victorian Retailer of the Year 2024.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Peter, Prue and all the team.”
