A ROAD trip to Ararat proved a tough day out for Lismore Derrinallum’s senior footballers last weekend, coming home with a 76-point loss.

Now relegated to ninth on the Mininera League ladder, with just one win on the board, the Demons will be keen to return to the winners’ list when they host the 10th-placed SMW Rovers tomorrow.

The Demons’ 2023 season got off to a great start, with a season-opening 166-point win over Moyston Willaura, but the side has yet to notch up its second win

The side got off to a slow start during last weekend’s round five clash with the fifth placed Eagles, remaining scoreless for the first quarter while the home side booted five majors.

The second term proved little better for the Demons who went into the half-time break with only one goal, one behind on the scoreboard and trailing by 56 points.

While they were able to add another four majors in the second half, the Demons fell well short of victory, 5.5.35 to 17.9.111.

Best for the visitors were James Halloran, Dale Marquand, Henry Walsh, Steven Ryan, William Beever and Josh Sanders.

Sanders booted two goals while Robbie McGavin, Ryan and Ruben Vesikuru added one each.

While scores were closer, the reserves also went down to Ararat, 3.7.25 to 6.9.45.

Timothy Turner, Sebastian Smith, Jack Sanders, Paul Hodder and Hunter Thompson were among the Demons best while Turner contributed a goal.

On the netball courts it was a mixed bag of results for the Demons, winning all junior games while defeated in all senior grades.
