Love to lead juniors
SOUTH West Cricket (SWC) has appointed decorated local cricketer Matthew Love as one of its junior coaches for the upcoming summer representative program.

SOUTH West Cricket (SWC) has appointed decorated local cricketer Matthew Love as one of its junior coaches for the upcoming summer representative program.
A re-invigorated commitment to its junior representative program has helped SWC secure this key coaching appointment.
Love, who is based in Camperdown and plays cricket for Colac District club Stoneyford, will mentor the league’s under 17 team bound for January’s Warrnambool carnival.
SWC vice president Matthew Hanks said the association was investing more heavily in its junior programs this season after identifying the need to provide greater opportunities for its players to develop as cricketers.
He added Love’s extensive playing and coaching experience, along with his knowledge and skill set, would be a vital asset in helping develop the association’s up-and-coming stars.
“We are excited to have someone with his high level of playing and coaching experience to help guide the kids, not just at Country Week, but to also help them transition into senior cricket as well back at their clubs,” Hanks said.
“As an association we want to make an effort to keep improving the junior competitions and improving the kids’ abilities while also making sure the kids enjoy their cricket.”
Love said he was looking forward to working with the talent within the association and preparing them for the demands of representative and senior cricket.
“I’m excited to be working with some of the young talented crickets in the area,” Love said.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the players by watching as many games as possible and up close at our training sessions with the squad we finalise to represent the under 17 side in Warrnambool.”
