Low rainfall continues across the region

A DRY end to the year continued with rainfall totals falling well below the long-term average during November.

Terang and Mortlake experienced around half the rainfall experienced throughout the month in previous years, with monthly totals falling well below the average since June.

In Terang a total of 33.2mm of rain hit the ground throughout November, below the long-term average of 60.7mm.

The highest daily rainfall was recorded on November 26 when 18.4mm of rain hit the ground.

The figure marks a sharp decline from November 2022 when 112.4mm was recorded as floods wrought havoc across Victoria.

With only one month remaining in 2023, the total rainfall recorded on the year stands at 609mm, below the 728.7mm average over the same 11-month period.

Meanwhile in Mortlake, a total of 28.4mm of rain fell during November - below the long-term monthly average of 49.2mm.

The highest daily rainfall was recorded on November 26, with 14.8mm hitting the ground.

The monthly total brought Mortlake to 502.2mm of rainfall on the year, below the long-term average of 546.3mm over the same period.
