Magpie juniors poll well

CAMPERDOWN’S junior footballers and netballers have polled well at this week’s Hampden League vote count.

The Magpies’ Mary Place finished runner-up in the Rebekah Moroney Memorial Medal for 17 and under netballers.

Place earned 33 votes for the home and away season, just three behind eventual winner, Lara Taylor from Cobden.

Also taking home a runner-up trophy was Camperdown’s Piper Stephens in the 13 and under count.

Stephens received 27 votes, just two behind eventual winner Indi O’Connor from Koroit.

And in the 15 and under vote count, Elsie Sinnott received 27 votes to finish third; one vote ahead of fourth-placed Isobel Sinnottt on 26.

This award was won by Shelby O’Sullivan from Koroit on 37 votes.

In the football awards, Magpie Lenny Stephens finished with 22 votes for the season, placing him a creditable fourth in the Stuart Brunt Award for under 14 footballers.

The award was won by Jack Sobey from the Hamilton Kangaroos on 29 votes.
