CAMPERDOWN Golf Magpies Bowling Club’s division one Saturday team continued its climb up the ladder last weekend with a win away against Colac Central.

With three rinks winning on the day the Magpies were able to come home with a 22-shot win.

Glenn Winsall’s rink of David Bateman, Gary Body and Greg Teal came home with a blistering burst to win 29-25.

John Molan’s rink of Peter Reilly, Ash Sinnott and Jack Paasse led for most of the day and finished up with an 18 shot win, 30-12.

Kev Conheady’s rink of Billy Conheady, Graeme Fitzgerald and Jamie Norton continued their good form with an 11-shot win over Ron Chapman’s rink, 25-14.

Craig Skene’s rink of Chris Pearson, Andrew Anderson and Daryl O’Donohue went down to Brian Finn’s rink 21-32.

This win sees Golf climb to seventh on the ladder and tomorrow sees the team take on cross-town rivals Camperdown at home.

A win would see the Magpies climb to at least sixth or maybe higher on the ladder depending on other results.

Division two took on Cressy last Saturday and went down by the barest margin of one shot, 88-89.

Michael Brebner’s rink of Mick Mahony, Trey Darcy and James Henry had a 12 shot win 27-15.

Leanne Fitzgerald’s rink of Peter Hindhaugh, Noel Brebner and Ray Bateman had a one shot win over Neville Keating’s rink 21-20.

Chris McLeod’s rink of Terry Place, Algie White and Isaac Winsall went down 19-26 to Stuart Tanis.

Paul Richard’s rink of Wayne Henry, Taj Merrett and Greg Molan also went down 21-28.

This loss leaves division two in sixth place, only 11 points outside the top four and with a game against Birregurra tomorrow a win could see them slip into the top four.

Camperdown Golf 3 division four team continued their undefeated start to the season by defeating Cressy 2 by 25 shots at home.

Rene Wyles’ team of Janet Molan, Liz Riches and Noelene Tolland had a 12-shot win over George Bath’s rink.

Peter James rink of Pam Place, Andrew Whiteside and Greg Edwards had a big 19 shot win over Carol Bath’s rink.

Denis Place’s rink of John O’Donohue, Elaine Waterfall and Ilma Daws had a hard-fought loss of six shots to Steven Turner’s rink.

Tomorrow sees Golf Four (3) travel to Colac Central and another win should see them cement their place at the top of the table.

Camperdown Golf Four (4) travelled to Cobden last Saturday and went down by 8 shots in a hard-fought match.

Barney Dickson’s rink of Mark Wallace, Zack Regan and James Wallace had a seven-shot win over Claire Reynold’s rink.

Carol Wilson’s rink of Val Coverdale, Kona Kerr and Xavier Crabbe had a seven-shot loss to Pat Hickey’s rink.

Dan Stewart’s team of John Salau, Keira Johnson and Trish Taylor suffered an eight-shot loss to Joy Beaton’s rink.

Tomorrow sees Golf 4 home to Cressy and a win will see them cement their place in the top four.

Mid-week competition continued last Tuesday with division one taking on Simpson at home and coming away with a 27-shot win.

Rene Wyles’ rink of Barb Boyd, Greg Teal and John O’Donohue had a 21-shot win over Maria Seabrook’s rink.

Leanne Fitzgerald’s rink of John Molan, Janet Molan and Noelene Tolland had a six-shot win over Lynda Costin’s rink.

Pam Place’s rink of Dan Stewart, Ilma Daws and Elaine Waterfall played a 21-all draw with Andrea Swayn’s rink.

This win sees Golf rise to fifth on the ladder only six points behind Cobden who they play next Tuesday.

A win at home would see Golf slide into the top four.

Division three travelled to Derrinallum in a game that decided top spot on the ladder and came away with a 13-shot win.

Norma Weller’s rink of Peter James, Pat Scott and Ruth Skene suffered a two-shot loss to Ken Wynd’s rink.

Carol Wilson’s rink of Marg Stephens, Kell Edwards and Lois Johnstone had a hard-fought win by four shots over Lorraine Uren’s rink.

Liz Riches’ rink of Denis Place, Ella Blyth and Val Coverdale had a great 11 shot win over Michael Haig’s rink.

This Tuesday sees division three at home to Winchelsea and a win will see them retain top spot.

Ruth Skene, Pat Scott, Marg Stephens and Norma Weller (s).

The final of the ladies’ pairs will be played next Thursday morning with Rene Wyles and Barb Boyd up against Janet Molan and Norma Weller.

Tomorrow afternoon sees the final of the men’s B grade championship with Peter (A team) Reilly playing Jamie (Noddy) Norton.

This should be a great final with both players being very good draw bowlers.

The men’s A grade semi-finals will be played Sunday morning with David Bateman and John Molan facing off in one semi and Greg Edwards and Kev Conheady in the other.

The final will be played in the afternoon.
