The league this week announced its five underage teams that will compete in the Western Zone Championships in Ballarat on Sunday, June 2.

The teams will compete in the under 13, under 13 reserve, under 15, under 15 reserve, and under 17 competitions.

Hampden’s Open side – which includes Camperdown’s Lily Eldridge and Cobden’s Grace Taylor – has automatically qualified to compete in the Finals Day in Melbourne on Sunday, June 16.

Junior Magpies’ Indiana Cameron and Elsie Sinnott have been named in the under 17 championship team while Piper Stephens has been named in the under 15 championship side.

Also set to represent the league are Camperdown’s Charlotte Hinds and Kiara Love (under 15 reserves), Madison Lucas and Olive Wills (under 13 championship) and Taylor Cameron (under 13 reserves).

Hampden League head of netball Dot Jenkins said she was really excited about the talent that will represent the league in Ballarat.

“The talent in each of the teams is testament to the strong coaching and junior development they are receiving from their clubs,” Jenkins said.

“It is a great opportunity for our players to test themselves at the next level, and the championships also acts as a talent identification process.”
