Magpies not quite good enough
CAMPERDOWN Golf Magpies Bowling Club fought hard against Colac last Saturday but couldn’t quite get over the line, going down by 16 shots 87-103.
Three of the four rinks were decided by one shot with Golf claiming one rink on the day.
The rink of Tom Spokes, John Molan, Jamie Norton and Jack Paasse claimed a one-shot win over Ricky Finn’s rink 26-25.
The scores were reversed on the rink of Gary Body, Chris Pearson, Ash Sinnott and Greg Molan who went down 25-26.
Billy Conheady’s rink of Craig Skene, David Bateman and Greg Teal went down by one shot, 19-20.
Kev Conheady’s rink of Glenn Winsall, Graeme Fitzgerald and Daryl O’Donohue fought hard all day to go down 17-32.
Tomorrow Golf Magpies have another road trip to take on the highly fancied Apollo Bay.
Golf will start the underdogs in this game but being the last game for this year Golf will be keen to reverse the result of their loss to the Bay earlier this season.

Golf’s division two and both division four teams shared the points with their opposition last Saturday due to the inclement weather causing washout games.
Camperdown Golf Magpies division two will travel to Colac tomorrow to take on City and a strong showing is expected.

Mid-week competition continued last Tuesday with division one taking on second placed Colac.
It was a tight game all day with Golf claiming victory by two shots, 63-61 despite only winning on one rink.
Rene Wyles’ rink of Michael Brebner, Barb Boyd and John O’Donohue won their rink by eight shots, 25-17.
Leanne Fitzgerald’s rink of Craig Skene, Janet Molan and Noelene Tolland went down by two shots, 19-21.
Pam Place’s rink of Noel Brebner, Denis Place and Elaine Waterfall went down by four shots, 19-23.
This was the last game before Christmas with play resuming on January 9.
Division 3 had the bye.
The ladies’ singles is down to the business end with Ro Dunstan having qualified for the final.
Her opponent will be the winner of the semi-final between Barb Boyd and Elaine Waterfall, with the results in next week’s paper.
A Christmas get together will be held at the clubhouse tomorrow night after play. Please bring a plate to share.
