McSween defends title

Callum McSween defended his A Grade championship title by back to back championship wins.

Callum McSween defended his A Grade championship title by back to back championship wins.

He won all his round robin section matches defeating Colin Venn, Dan Galea and Vesha Chapagai.

In the other half of the draw Mark Smith defeated Tony Young in five games, Pat Nicholson and Akash K.C.

In the semi-finals McSween played Young and Smith played Galea.

Both McSween and Smith won their matches and went on to contest the final.

McSween proved too strong and won in straight games 11-8, 11-4, 15-13.

In B Grade championship Tyler Smith won the final against Michael Pearson.

Smith in the round robin stage defeated Ganga Aryal in five games, Alex Rochfort and Harrison Smith. Pearson defeated Isaac Fowler, Scott Breddels and John Rantall.

In the semi-finals Smith defeated Rantall and Pearson defeated Aryal. In the final Smith won in four games 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 11-8.

For the first time in quite a while we were able to play a doubles championship. Tyler Smith and Alex Rochfort combined to win.

Round 11 results:

Callum’s Road defeated Tony’s Terriers 6-5.

McSween won his 3 singles and a doubles. However, he was nearly beaten by Tony Young winning 5-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-8, 12-10.

Michael Pearson provided the other 2 games for victory which included some sweet revenge in defeating Tyler Smith.

Murphy’s Law kept their finals hopes alive defeating third placed Pat’s Players 6-5. Colin Venn and Pat Nicholson played off in the decider with Venn winning in straight games.

Murphy’s Law won both doubles which was crucial for their win.

Top team Mark’s Battlers were too strong for TTMI2 winning 11-0. Mark Smith, Vesha Chapagai and John Rantall winning all their matches.
