MEMBERS of the Lakes and Craters Band took time to celebrate a busy year.
Band secretary Bernie Dunn said the group had its end-of-year break-up last Friday which saw members celebrate an “active and successful year as it emerged from the challenges of COVID restrictions”.
“Some of the band’s commitments were annual events while several others were new experiences that brought much enjoyment to the community and the band alike,” he said.
Mr Dunn said four members were also presented awards at the Cobden Carols by Candlelight on Sunday night.
Awards were presented to:
• Annette Mulholland who received life membership for her years of service as a secretary and treasurer;
• Amy Stewart received the most improved junior player and also band person of the year awards;
• Helen Lynch received life membership for her years of service as a musician and librarian; and
• Ray Bowden received the most improved senior player award.
“The band congratulates the award recipients on their achievements, and also thanks the community for its ongoing support throughout the year,” Mr Dunn said.
“Musical director, Jane McSween, extends an open invitation to all who would like to join the band either as an established band person or as someone who would like to discover the joys of learning music and participating in a band.
“Age is no barrier to learning and discovery, as several of the musicians have demonstrated.”
