Memorable day for Harry
WET weather saw last Friday’s Camperdown Little Athletics event moved indoors.
The session was moved to the Camperdown stadium for a fun-filled skills training afternoon.
More than 50 athletes attended the night and enjoyed the opportunity to learn and develop skills that are required for Friday night competition.
Club member Harry Roberts represented the western country region at Little Aths Victoria’s ‘region challenge’ on October 20.
This event recognised and celebrated the 60th anniversary of Little Athletics Victoria and brought together a selected group of under 10-under 17 athletes to compete in a team’s competition format.
Hundreds of athletes from across the state headed to Duncan Makinnon Athletics track in Melbourne, including Camperdown’s Harry Roberts who represented the western country region.
Little Aths Victoria held its very first competition at Geelong on October 3, 1964.
It now has more than 100 centres across metropolitan Melbourne and country Victoria, with a day full of track and field events across age groups from under 10 to under 17.
Each region entered a team, with five/six events per age group – with regional medal winners announced at the end of the day.
Western Country region finished fourth overall.
Camperdown’s Harry Roberts placed sixth in javelin and also performed well in triple jump (placing to be confirmed).
