MERCY Regional College staff and students welcomed a new face to the school this week.

New deputy principal of learning, teaching and innovation Natalie Stephenson began the role on Monday, with the first day with students on Wednesday.

“It (the first day) was fantastic,” she said.

“It’s been a long time coming. I was appointed to the role in June.”

Mrs Stephenson said she was looking forward to the future and exploring the area.

She comes to the role from Clonard College in Geelong.

“I’ve spent my entire teaching career in Geelong,” Mrs Stephenson said.

“When the opportunity came up, I jumped at it.

“We bought a second home here and I’m able to spend time here and shoot back to Bannockburn when I need to.”

Mrs Stephenson said she was looking forward to meeting more of the MRC community.

“Everyone has been really friendly,” she said.

“It’s been terrific to say I’m finally here.

“I’m very keen to meet our young people and get a feel for the learning culture.”
