The college team defeated Damascus College last month, taking the win by just one point, 6.6.42 to 6.5.41.

Prior to the game Geelong Cats midfielder George Stevens spoke to the players about his own football journey to the AFL.

His inspirational words gave the players some extra motivation to face the only team that had previously beaten them this year.

The college side was coached by 1998 Maskell Medal winner and former Cobden coach, Wayne Robertson.

Among the standout players in the final for Mercy were Aidan Conheady, Gus Walsh, Jacan Brooks and Darcy Vick.

Mercy’s netball side, co-coached by principal Sharon Gillett and Emily Stephens, also made its inaugural appearance in the competition.

The team made finals and finished in fourth place.
