Merindah receives gift from Friends and Relatives
THERE are only 13 bedrooms in Camperdown’s new $39.6 million Residential Aged Care facility left to be furnished and equipped after another community group donated to the appeal.
The Friends and Relatives of Merindah (FROM) group donated $9200 to the aged care facility appeal on Wednesday.
FROM president Carole Manifold said it was something the group could do to help the facility.
“They do need it, definitely,” she said.
“That’s what FROM stands for – Friends and Relatives of Merindah Lodge, and we have fundraised for so many things for them over there, so we will continue to do this at the new place.
“We’ve been saving up money for them – done a lot of fundraising towards them.”
Appeal manager Suzan Morey said the $562,000 appeal, launched on March 14, has managed to raise $337,560 in 15 weeks.
“Additional to the $119,600 yet to be raised to complete the furnishing and equipping of the remaining 13 bedrooms, other initiatives also need donor support, including $4850 to deck out the nail and hair salon,” she said.
“Fifty people are being invited to each donate $97 to achieve this.
“So far 21 people have done so.”
Ms Morey encouraged residents to reach out and make a donation to the cause – with June 30 approaching, the donation can be tax-deductible.
“This can be done by personally visiting the cashier in the Camperdown Hospital or donating online at www.southwesthealthcare.com.au,” she said.
