MI Rock Aly stormed home to claim the Bet365 Mortlake Cup by a nose in front of a strong crowd on Saturday.

Around 2000 people flocked through the gates at Mortlake Racecourse on Saturday for a blockbuster day of country racing.

The eight-race program proved for a great day of country racing, with narrow margins and dominant performances alike.

Local connections were all smiles when jockey Linda Meech guided the Matthew Williams trained Mi Rock Aly home to salute the day’s premier event – the Bet365 Mortlake Cup.

Results for the full program were as follows:

Race one – 1600 metre Mac’s Hotel maiden Plate: Sunray Lass (M Julius), Yiasou (J Hill) and Manhattan Mabs (M Aitken);

Race two – 1300 metre Westvic Tyles Maiden Plate: Allouvre (L J Grace), Big Beam (F W Kersley) and Williamstown (T Prebble);

Race three – 1100 metre Mortlake Pre-Mix Concrete Maiden Plate: Triomphe (J Hill), Finnish Girl (S Field) and Mississippi Miller (J Kennedy);

Race four – 1100 metre Banquet Angus BM58: Nullafiord (L Meech), Cranc (T Childs) and Long Lost Friend (T Madden);

Race five – 2000 metre Valton Feeding Solutions BM58: Chimed (L Meech), His Zedness (J Hill) and Naughty One (J Kennedy);

Race six – 1300 metre Terang and District Co-Op BM52: Let’s Go Letty (T Prebble), Getonit (L Meech) and Dissonance (S Field);

Race seven – 2000 metre Bet365 Mortlake Cup: Mi Rock Aly (L Meech), Goliotus (M Julius) and Queen Takes King (T Madden); and

Race eight – 1300 metre Moyne Shire BM52: Lovano (C Puls), Loco For Coco (L J Grace) and Café Mocha (J Kennedy).
