Milestone for Tiger
TALENT senior footballer Brad Salmon ran out for his 200th game for the Simpson Tigers last weekend.

TALENT senior footballer Brad Salmon ran out for his 200th game for the Simpson Tigers last weekend.
Round 12 marked a special milestone for the popular Tiger, who also earnt himself a life membership of the club.
Salmon has spent his entire football career at the Tigers (apart from two seasons spent with Cobden in the Hampden League) and has made his mark at the club both on and off the field.
Simpson coach Daniel Beard said while his side was unable to get the win for Salmon on his big day, there was plenty of reasons to celebrate.
“Sure it would’ve been nice to cap the day off with a win for Brad, but they all put in 100 per cent and the scoreboard really didn’t reflect their intensity,” Beard said.
“Playing 200 games is pretty special and it’s something Brad should be very proud of. He’s had a great playing career to date, including some premierships with the Tigers and a stint in the Hampden league, and it was great to see so many people there to celebrate with him on Saturday night.
“Our reserves are flying high at the moment and the club overall is in a great place. We had 40 plus on the training track on Thursday so we’re getting great numbers and everyone is having a good time and that’s really what it’s all about.”
Reflecting on last weekend’s game against South Colac, Beard said the windy conditions – and low conversion in front of goal – made it tough going.
“We had a good first quarter and we had the majority of the play for the first half but unfortunately South made better use of their opportunities with the wind than we did,” Beard said.
Final scores were Simpson 4.11.35 to South Colac 7.9.51.
Best for the Tigers were Brad Salmon, Lochie Hawkins, Brock Neal, Thomas Leishman, Rhys Ziegelaar and Tanner Fratantaro.
Goal kickers were Nicholas Harding, Thomas Leishman, Ryan Mulder and Sam Rial with one each.
The Tigers will take on the fifth-placed Lorne at Stribling Reserve this weekend.
In the reserves last weekend, the fourth-placed Tigers enjoyed a well-earned 86-point win over South Colac, 15.10.100 to 2.2.14.
Best for the Tigers in a great team effort were Brodie Neale, Luke Kensit, Jason McVilly, Archie Rial, Rohan Johns and Jaryd Duynhoven.
Goals went to Jono Jennings and Brodie Neale with four each, Noah Ackerley and Rohan Johns with two each and singles from Luke Kensit, Drew Kordupel and Brett Robbins.
The Tigers’ under 18 side went down 2.6.18 to 7.10.52.
Louis Janssen, Louis Duynhoven, Nate Sambell, Bodhi Crole, Oliver Rial and Jack Balcombe were among the best for the Tigers while Bradey Fratantaro was the only goal kicker with two.
