Teams headed to Colac Lakes Bowling Club for the day’s competition.

On rink 10, skip Maria Van Someren, third Henry Henderson, second Grahame Chamberlain and lead Donna Watts had a very tough day.

They didn’t score until the seventh end, 1-12.

After lunch they picked up 10 shots to be 11-19 down but the Colac side was just too good and won the game 26-13.

Next door on rink11 was a very different game.

Skip Vicki Brebner, third Barry Atchison, second Kerry Henderson and lead Judy Borthwick led their opposition 5-0 after the first three ends.

By the ninth end the score was 7-6.

Vicki’s team skipped away and led 13-10 with five ends to go and then didn’t let their opposition score, winning 22-10.

This made the overall score one shot the difference in favour of Colac Lakes.

Brad Wilson was the stand-in skipper for Ron Simox, Les Dorman also moved up to third.

Pam Atchison was the second and Ray Bourke went in to play lead.

The team started well and led 9-6 on the ninth end and by the 18th end they had a 23-8 lead with only four ends to go.

Brad’s team only scored on one more end, winning their rink 27-14 which gave Camperdown the win by 12 shots.

This placed them top spot on the ladder with 46 points, with Camperdown Golf 2, City 3, Colac 4, Winchelsea 2 and Central 2.

After a disappointing start to the season, Camperdown’s division one side travelled to Colac City last weekend.

On a cooler day, the home side was in front at the tea break by four shots and then pulled away to win 92-70.

A close match was witnessed by Darren Coverdale’s team. They held the lead all day and only lost on the last end, with City’s Garry Morrissy playing a remarkable conversion shot to win the game for his rink, 20-19.

Luke Wright’s team came up against the team skipped by Jack O’Dowd, with City proving too strong, winning 30-16.

The rink of Ronald Cameron played former state champion Rebecca McMahon, with the score level at the tea break.

Outstanding bowling from the home side saw them pull away to a 25-17 victory.

The match of the day saw Camperdown’s Matthew Brewer’s team play Stewart Trigg.

They remained level throughout the day, with scores tied going into the final end.

Camperdown won the match 18-17.

Division three accompanied division one to City but also found the home side too strong, with a final score of 62-84.

Ronald Absalom’s rink went down to Christopher Adams’ team, 14-20.

A slow start saw a magnificent comeback by Stanley Adeney’s team, only dropping two ends after the tea break – going down to Bruce Whittaker’s team 13-16.

The team, skipped by Thomas Hose, found themselves in a tight battle against the team of Graham harris, with City finally winning 23-22.
