COBDEN and district locals turned out in force for a cuppa and a chat for a cause last week.
The annual Cobden Biggest Morning Tea event, held at the Cobden NAB last Thursday, has become an anticipated date on the calendar for residents.
Organiser Jenny Bongers said the morning tea and sales from yo-yos raised more than $1800.
“It was just amazing. I’m very pleased with the turn out.
“Thank you to the community for always supporting the event over the years.”
Mrs Bongers said the wider business community had got behind the event, which will be the last one held with Cobden NAB closing on April 29.
“Fonterra donated raffle prizes and NAB gave us funds this year as well,” she said.
“Thank you to Peter and Vicki Haynes for doing the coffee van and Cafe on Curdie did the slices, the Cobden Bakery also made scones for the day.”
As well as locals turning out to enjoy a cuppa and cake, a number of former bank employees from over the years also dropped in as a final farewell.
Yo-yo’s will be available to purchase up until the bank closes next week.
