This Week in Mortlake saw some B grade action and more information regarding mixed pairs and club fours championships. Let’s get into it.
Last Saturday the women’s and men’s B grade championships were played and again it was great to see a good turnout forthese finals.
Rita Pasque played Harmony Rasmussen in the women’s B grade final and the match started out pretty even.
Rita started to break away through the middle of the match and congratulations go to our champion, Rita!
This is Rita’s second victory with the last one being approximately a decade ago. Well done to Harmony in her B grade finals debut.
Scott Pierce played Justin Rasmussen in the men’s B grade championship, with Scott getting off to a solid start before Justin fought back and took the lead midway throughthe match.
Scott then came back from five down to be within one and then level at 20 all with a one end shootout.
The result came down to a measure and congratulations to our champion, Justin! This is Justin’s second victory in B grade, with the last being a decade ago.
As we look towards the remainder of April there are two events still outstanding and they are intertwined.
The club fours will be held next Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24. Saturday will be the quarter finals in the morning with the mixed pairs final between P. Beardsley and G. Kenna versus D.
Robertson and A. Wentworth being played in the afternoon.
On Sunday, the club fours semi-finals will be played with a BBQ lunch on offer, before the club fours final being playedthat afternoon.
Teams for the club fours should be in as soon as possible by writing them down on the signup sheet or letting Scott know.
The last event for our bowls calendar is presentation night at Mount Shadwell Hotel on Saturday, April 30. Signup sheet is in the box outside the main entrance.
