AFTER a week delay due to weather, Mortlake Blue (division one) and Mortlake Gold (division four) bowls teams had a crack at finals glory.

Despite their efforts, both sides were not successful in their efforts to secure a grand final spot.

The club thanks everyone who came out to support the Mortlake teams in the last few weeks and the well wishes on the club’s social page.

Both teams finished third for the season, which is a great achievement - onward and upward for next year.

Last Sunday the B grade championships were played.

Glenice Kenna defeated Lyn O'Shannessy and Scott Pierce defeated Peter Palmer.

Congratulations to the club’s B grade champions, Gleniceand Scott, and well done to the runners-up, Lyn and Peter.

Last Monday the women’s pairs final was played in the twilight hours between Marj Whitson and Ann Johnson and Jacinta Marneyand Harmony Rasmussen.

Congratulations to the women’s pairs champions Jacinta and Harmony and well done to the runners-up, Marj and Ann.

It was a good, close game to watch.

Next weekend will be the conclusion of the men’s pairs and the mixed pairs.

This Labour Day Monday is the 2023 Westvic Tyres Shadwell Classic at Mortlake Bowling Club.

The weather should co-operate and have a fantastic day for all.

Club fours entries are now open for Saturday, April 15. See Colin Goldsworthy or Scott to enter your team or single entry and have a day of bowls with a barbecue lunch.
